About Us

At Contractors’ Machinery Corporation, our goal is to be the primary seller and rental provider of excellent, production quality, used construction machinery and trucks to the construction industry in the Northwest.

Since our beginning, Contractors’ Machinery Corporation’s (CMC) focus has been on finding and providing late model, low hour machines. We acquire our machinery by searching the surplus machinery inventories of machinery dealerships, contractors, rental companies, banks and finance institutions and, occasionally, when we see a worthy machine and know its history, we buy from machinery auctions. Once acquired, the machinery is checked out and serviced making sure it is “Ready for Work”. We want our customers to have a “like new” experience with their machinery purchases from CMC.

We believe the best economic value in construction machinery is in low hour, late model used machinery. Not much new news there, the challenge is to define that “best economic value point” in more than “it’s a good deal” way. We define that point as the 80/60% Value Ratio. We believe that the value point that most often represents the “best economic value” is when a machine has about 80% of its economic productive life remaining, for utility construction machinery that’s usually between 1,500 and 2,500 hours. At that point of use we can usually market a machine for about 60% of the cost of new. An almost new machine for just about half of the cost, that’s a good buy!

We don’t just locate and resell those 80/60 machines. We check them out and perform the service necessary for them to be “job ready”. Our goal is for our customers to be able to put our machines to work on the job with nearly the same confidence in mechanical availability as a new machine. The 80/60 Value Ratio and our pre-delivery service provide an economy that is hard to argue with.

27 years of experience helps us find these great values. Our founder, Carl Olson, has been in the construction machinery business since his business college graduation in 1981. We firmly believe that his time and comprehensive experience in all aspects of the construction machinery dealership industry not only helps us accurately find these 80/60 value machines, but it also gives our customers the best prospective on their machinery ownership. During his more than 27 years in the construction machinery business, he has worked as a District Manager for Ford Tractor Operations North America, he has owned three machinery dealerships; two new machinery dealerships and his current used dealership, CMC, which he established in 1989, and he has managed a John Deere Construction Machinery branch and it’s corporate used machinery division. Through his companies, he has owned, maintained and sold in excess of 500 new and used machines related to all aspects of light construction, utility construction, heavy construction, mining and forestry. In his ownership and management roles, he has managed all aspects of machinery dealerships including sales, inventories, finance, general operations, and parts and service. He has been factory trained by seven major machinery manufacturers.

We would like to become your construction machinery provider. We can also arrange competitive financing to credit worthy customers. Check out our website for inventory you may be interested in for your next project and give us a call, we believe you will be glad you did.
